Deleting your account

Open Settings - the gear in the top right - scroll to Delete account, and type DELETE to confirm. The typing is deliberate: this can’t be undone, and a single tap is too easy to make by accident.

Sign in and go to Settings, then Delete account. Same result, same immediacy.

Uninstalled the app, lost the password, or can’t sign in for any other reason? Email privacy@featurenight.com from the address on the account and we’ll delete it for you. We aim to do that within seven days, and we’ll confirm by reply when it’s done.

We’ll only act on a request from the account’s own email address - otherwise anyone could delete anyone.

All of it, in the same moment:

• Your sign-in details and email address
• Your username, avatar choice, genre preferences and streaming services
• Your age band
• Your ratings and any reviews you wrote
• Your watchlist
• Your messages in watch group chats, and your comments on titles
• Your watch group memberships, and any recommendations or votes you made
• Your notification settings and any push notification tokens for your devices

Watch groups you created keep existing for the other people in them, along with anything they added. A group is a shared thing, and deleting your account shouldn’t empty someone else’s. If you want a group gone as well, delete the group first - you can do that from inside it - and then delete your account.

Safety reports keep a copy of what was reported. If someone reported a message and we kept a record of it, that record survives, because otherwise anyone could erase the evidence of what they’d done by deleting their account. It holds the reported text and nothing else about you.

Server logs hold IP addresses and timestamps for a short period, as any web service does, and roll off on their own.

Feature Night is for people aged 13 and over. If an account tells us its owner is younger, we delete it straight away rather than keeping it and restricting it. Nothing is retained, and no birth date is ever stored - the date you enter is turned into an age band and discarded.
